Sonora has a regional hospital, but endocrinology appointments in the Mother Lode are scarce, and some residents travel to Fresno for faster specialist access. A proper osteoporosis evaluation looks for a cause. Vitamin D deficiency, hyperparathyroidism, thyroid over-replacement, low testosterone or estrogen, celiac disease and steroid medications all weaken bone, and treating the cause is often the most important step.
About Osteoporosis Treatment
Follow-up is on a schedule: repeat bone density at the right interval, calcium and vitamin D monitoring and a check that the medication is tolerated and working.
Infusion and injection treatments for osteoporosis can be arranged in Fresno and coordinated with your schedule.

Both mean lower than normal bone density on a DEXA scan; osteopenia is milder. Treatment depends on your overall fracture risk, not the label alone, which is why we calculate that risk for every patient.
Not everyone does. If your fracture risk is low, calcium, vitamin D, exercise and fall prevention may be enough. If it is high, medication substantially lowers the chance of a hip or spine fracture.
