Thyroid Disease & Parathyroid Disorders at Spring Endocrinology in Fresno

Which Thyroid Conditions Do You Treat?

We diagnose and manage the full range of thyroid disease: underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's thyroiditis), overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism and Graves disease), thyroid nodules and goiter, thyroiditis, and follow-up care after thyroid cancer treatment. We use the right lab panel for your situation, not just a TSH, and we adjust medication to how you feel as well as to the numbers. For Graves disease and thyroid eye disease we also offer infusion treatment in the clinic.

Thyroid Disease & Parathyroid Disorders in Fresno, CA

What Is a Parathyroid Disorder and How Is It Treated?

The four parathyroid glands control the calcium level in your blood. Hyperparathyroidism, usually from a benign growth on one gland, pushes calcium too high and can cause fatigue, kidney stones, bone loss and brain fog. Hypoparathyroidism, often after neck surgery, pushes it too low. We confirm the diagnosis with the correct calcium, PTH and vitamin D testing, look for complications, and manage you medically or coordinate with an experienced surgeon when surgery is the right answer.

What Happens at a Thyroid Visit?

Expect a careful history, an exam of the neck, and labs chosen for your situation. If you have a nodule or goiter we arrange a thyroid ultrasound and, when it is indicated, a biopsy. You leave with a clear explanation of what is going on and a written plan, and we follow up to confirm the treatment is working. Education matters here: most thyroid problems are lifelong, and understanding yours is part of managing it well.

GOOD TO KNOW

Thyroid & Parathyroid Questions, Answered

Straight answers from the Spring Endocrinology team. For more, read the full FAQ.

My TSH is normal but I still have symptoms. Can you help?

Yes. TSH alone does not tell the whole story. We look at free T4, T3, antibodies and your symptoms together, consider other hormone causes such as adrenal, pituitary or sex hormone problems, and adjust treatment to how you feel, not only to a single number.

Do you treat thyroid nodules in Fresno?

Yes. Most nodules are benign, but each one needs the right evaluation. We arrange ultrasound, use the standard risk scoring to decide whether a biopsy is needed, and follow nodules over time so nothing is missed.

What is thyroid eye disease and do you treat it?

Thyroid eye disease is an autoimmune condition, most common with Graves disease, that causes bulging, irritated or double-visioned eyes. Spring Endocrinology offers infusion therapy for thyroid eye disease in the clinic and coordinates with eye specialists when needed.

Is hyperparathyroidism serious?

Untreated, high calcium can lead to osteoporosis, kidney stones and heart and mood problems. The good news is that it is very treatable. We confirm the diagnosis, check for complications and, when surgery is the right answer, refer you to an experienced parathyroid surgeon.

Will I need to take thyroid medication forever?

For hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's, usually yes, and that is fine when the dose is right. For hyperthyroidism and nodules the answer depends on the cause and the treatment chosen. We explain the options for your situation clearly.
