Parlier's families work the orchards and vineyards of eastern Fresno County, rely on community health centers for primary care and travel to Fresno for specialists. We explain how long to stay on each medication, when a treatment break makes sense and how to think about the rare side effects Parlier patients have read about, so the decision is informed rather than fearful.
About Osteoporosis Treatment
Men get osteoporosis too, and are tested less often. About one in four men over 50 will break a bone because of it, and low testosterone and steroid use raise the risk.
Bring your DEXA report, any fracture history and your medication list. That is enough for a complete first visit.
Whether you live in Downtown Parlier, Zediker Avenue, Manning Avenue or elsewhere in Parlier, the clinic is a manageable trip. Parlier is about 30 minutes from the clinic via Manning Avenue to Highway 99 or Academy Avenue north.

Both mean lower than normal bone density on a DEXA scan; osteopenia is milder. Treatment depends on your overall fracture risk, not the label alone, which is why we calculate that risk for every patient.
Not everyone does. If your fracture risk is low, calcium, vitamin D, exercise and fall prevention may be enough. If it is high, medication substantially lowers the chance of a hip or spine fracture.
