Does insurance cover Spring Endocrinology services?

While we’re currently out of network with most insurance plans, we offer in-network membership for people who live in California. We’re working hard to expand access to in-network memberships to make Spring Endocrinology's holistic medical care more widely accessible. In the meantime, you may be able to use out-of-network benefits for doctor visits. If you’re a current member and have questions about in-network plans, message us. Not a current member but want to learn more? Schedule a call with us.

Members with out-of-network coverage typically receive a reimbursement of 40-70% on clinical fees. Make sure to call the member services phone number on the back of your insurance card to learn more about your potential out-of-network coverage.

After each doctor visit, you can ask your medical team to prepare a medical invoice or “superbill” that details the information your insurance company needs to process your claim, including CPT codes for services performed, as well as ICD-10 codes for diagnoses. Afterward, you’ll need to submit the superbill to your insurance company and follow their specific claim process.

We know this can be a lot, so if you have any questions while going through the process, you can always reach out to your medical team for support.

How does Spring Endocrinology bill members?

A Complete Care membership means you’ll be on an annual plan.

When signing up for membership, we give you the option to either pay monthly or in a lump sum, at which time you’ll need to include your credit card information.

If you choose to pay monthly, you’ll be charged the first monthly payment on the date you sign up, and every month following that. If you choose to pay everything upfront, you’ll be charged the total amount upon signup. Invoices will be sent to you via email.

Please note: Monthly membership fees are designed to cover the total cost of your allotted appointments in your membership year. Membership fees do not necessarily equate to monthly visits.

Does Spring Endocrinology provide urgent or acute care?

We are not an urgent care provider and are not available for same-day emergency appointments. If you have a medical emergency, we recommend that you visit urgent care or an ER. If you are a member, we can help with non-urgent requests like prescription refills, or create a plan for managing a cold or sinus infection. Our doctors will respond to non-urgent messages in 24-72 hours, if not sooner.

Where can I have an in-person appointment?

Visit us at one of our clinic in Fresno, CA. Specially designed to promote calm and healing, our clinic follow local and national guidelines for COVID safety to keep our members and employees safe.

Will my appointments be virtual or in-person?

Spring Endocrinology is located in Fresno, CA. We provide in-person care for any patients who are able to make it to the clinic.

If members live in the United States but aren’t located near us, they can sign up for a membership and work with us completely online via video visits with their doctor and health coach. The quality of care is the same online and in-person, but there are a few differences:

Care can be done virtually.

Virtual-only members cannot receive controlled substance or scheduled medication prescriptions from our doctors. We don’t typically provide controlled substances, but can for in-person members.

Virtual-only members cannot receive physical examinations for documentation from our doctors (we do a modified physical virtual exam, but will not submit documentation or paperwork).

How can I purchase supplements and vitamins from Spring Endocrinology?

Our Spring Endocrinology-branded supplements are available for purchase , and members get a 20% discount.

As part of your membership, your doctors will work with you to prescribe the right supplements and vitamins geared towards your personalized health plan.

What is the Spring Endocrinology approach to supplements?

Supplements (like prescription drugs) are powerful tools to be taken seriously regarding safety, quality, effectiveness, and relevance. Our doctors are trained in using specific, high-quality, safe-tested “professional grade” supplements that are third-party-validated and produced in GMP-certified facilities, as well as made by manufacturers that largely only retail through licensed medical providers. The supplements we prescribe are indicated to work for the conditions they support, like treating microbial imbalances in the gut, addressing nutrient deficiencies, or balancing blood sugar. We are highly selective and cautious in prescribing supplements. However, we also find they are more effective than conventional drug therapies alone.

While legally no dietary supplement or nutraceutical can claim to “treat or cure” a disease, the supplements we recommend are evidence-based to address or support the lifestyle-responsive conditions we treat every day at Spring Endocrinology. Like any drug, any supplement can have side effects, should be monitored carefully, evaluated for negative reactions, or stopped if not efficacious.

While we offer supplements for sale, our members are not required to purchase supplements through us. We do encourage members to get their supplements through us via our online store, our clinics, or our Fullscript store because we can guarantee the supplement quality and to offer convenience for members.

Our doctors are never incentivized financially to recommend supplements. Members should feel confident their doctor or health coach is only recommending the supplements they feel are best for you.

Can I still get a prescription via an online video visit?

Your doctor can prescribe medication if needed. However, they cannot prescribe controlled substances or scheduled medications.

Can my doctor prescribe medication?

Yes. Prescription drugs are one of the most powerful tools of modern medicine. They are critical healers in the toolkit, and we prescribe them regularly. Some medications, however, do require management by specialists, and are not appropriate for our providers to prescribe.

All of our doctors have been trained in conventional allopathic or osteopathic medical schools, physician assistant schools, or nursing schools. They are licensed to practice medicine in their state, and have state DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) licensing to allow for prescribing pharmaceutical medication. As such, prescription drugs are a key part of our care, and we believe they are powerful and essential tools in modern medicine. However, we cannot prescribe controlled substances or scheduled medications.

What is the Spring Endocrinology approach to prescription medication?

Prescription drugs are one of the most powerful advents and essential tools of modern medicine. They are critical to the Health toolkit, and we prescribe them every day.

All of our doctors have been trained in conventional osteopathic medical schools, physician assistant schools, or nursing schools. They are licensed to practice medicine in their state, and have state DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) licensing to allow for prescribing pharmaceutical medication.

That said, we recognize that most prescription drugs today are designed to manage a condition rather than treat its root cause, and they also tend to have uncomfortable side effects. That’s why our goal is to only prescribe drugs necessary for treating an underlying cause of a condition.

For example: if a member has diabetes or pre-diabetes, they may not need to take metformin or insulin. They may simply need a change in their diet. If we can help someone reverse diabetes, resolve their condition, and get off medication with just a lifestyle change, that’s a win.

75% of primary care visits result in a prescription compared to 15% of patient visits with our clinicians result in a prescription drug 15% of the time, and overall we reduce chronic prescription drug dependence in our population by over 25%. Additionally, over 25% of our members experience a reduction in chronic prescription usage.

What is Spring Endocrinology's success with treating certain conditions?

80% of our members start feeling better in the first year and we’re able to track that progress using our SE Symptom Index(PSI), which helps gauge your healing process over time.

The SE Symptom index analyzes nine body areas ranging from musculoskeletal, to digestive, to mental health, and tracks progress over time. Using this tracker, we give you a total score based on how you’re doing—called the SE Symptom Index (PSI)—which gives your doctor a snapshot of your health.

What are Spring Endocrinology's treatment protocol(s)?

Our evidence-based clinical protocols include nutrition, medication, and supplements, healthy movement, mental wellbeing, and stress management. Combining all these aspects, we create a personalized health plan that evolves with you.
